Laser Hair Reduction

Have a problem with unwanted hair on your body?

Laser hair reduction is a gentle, non-invasive long-term solution to unwanted hair for women and men. Reducing hair from virtually any part of your body, treatment will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth, free from painful in-growing hairs.

These treatments either use laser or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) systems, which are clinically proven to treat unwanted hair safely in all skin types, from dark Afro-Caribbean skin to fair skin.

We are able to offer you tailor-made treatments depending on your skin and hair colour, giving clients permanent, rewarding results to boost self-esteem and confidence.

What are the benefits?

Laser hair reduction works by destroying the base of the hair follicle which is the source of new hair growth. A short burst of light energy is delivered onto the skin surface by the laser or IPL. The melanin (colour pigment) in the hair absorbs the light and converts this energy into heat. If the hair is in its growth stage, the heat will travel down the hair follicle to the root and destroy the germination centre preventing regrowth.

What is the downtime?

This treatment does not require any downtime. You may return to normal activities straight after your treatment.

Are there any possible side effects?

The treated area may appear slightly red, raised and feel warm for a few hours. Slight swelling may occur on occasion, bruising is rare but can happen (associated with vascular treatments). Treatment on vascular areas or pigmentation may darken immediately after treatment – this is part of the healing process and will improve over a few days.

How many treatments do I need for best results?

Treatment time varies depending on the area being treated – this will be explained during your consultation. Multiple treatments are required to ensure all hairs are treated effectively.

Treatment protocol

Pre-treatment protocol

Before any treatment, Aspire will undertake a full review of your medical health and medication. Do not remove the hair using any other method of hair removal for 4 weeks and do not bleach the hair.

Avoid sun exposure and sunbeds for one month, ensuring SPF 30 minimum is used every day on areas to be treated.

Avoid the use of fake tan or gradual tanning creams for 2 weeks before.

Laser and IPL cannot be applied to an area that has undergone any type of electrical facial/body treatment, chemical peel or microneedling and injectables two weeks prior to treatment.

Subsequent treatments will require you to shave or trim hair prior to treatments.

Training clinic

Aspire Aesthetics is a professional training clinic for undergraduate students studying the Aesthetic Practitioner degree at University College Birmingham, which offers cutting-edge non-surgical treatments at a fraction of the usual cost.
